One of the best things about traveling is the people you meet along the way, and Iceland was no exception. I still remain fairly close with my hitchhiking companions, and in July, I was lucky enough to have one of them visit me in Sydney. She had been living and working in New Zealand, making it convenient for us to reconnect on the other side of the globe.
While she was in town, we ventured on a two-hour bus ride from Sydney’s Central Station to Palm Beach, 50 kilometers north. We had stunning weather that felt much warmer than mid-winter; a beautiful beach nearly all to ourselves; the Barrenjoey Head Aquatic Reserve to explore; and clouds that captivated us from mid-day through sunset.
